Deepa Vedavyas, as Associate Director for Development coordinates housing and business development initiatives.
Ms. Vedavyas holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur, India. While at VCU, she worked as an Academic Advisor, Research Asst. and as a Graduate Teaching Asst. between Aug 2005 and May 2007. She has interned at Henrico County Planning Dept, Virginia; Town of Summerfield, North Carolina; Virginia Department Of Transportation; Virginia Housing Development Authority and Better Housing Coalition during the same period.
Ms. Vedavyas is a recipient of several honors including, 'Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges' in 2007, 'T. Edward Temple Scholarship Award' for being Outstanding First Year Student in 2006, recognized as an 'Internship Superstar' and featured as 'Person of the Week' at Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, VCU in 2006. She received a 'Scholarship to Germany' and gave a presentation on 'Regional Planning in US' at the University of Bauhaus, Germany in May 2006. She is also a recipient of 'Best Citizens of India Award' in 2008, 'Rashtriya Gaurav Award' and 'Glory of India Gold Medal' in 2007.
Her research interests include sustainable development, complete streets, mixed-use/mixed income development, neighborhood planning, urban revitalization, international planning and related travel experiences.
